Plays
My plays have been produced Off-Broadway and by respected regional theaters around the East Coast and Midwest.
Musicians of the Sun
This one-act play was commissioned by Ann Arbor-based Wild Swan Theater and performed during their mainstage season in three languages: English, Spanish, and American Sign Language. It is based on the Aztec myth of how the sun tried to steal all the colors from the people of the earth.
"The story (is) immediately captivating, seamlessly spoken in English and Spanish as well as continuously interpreted in American Sign Language and advanced gracefully through mime, dance and music. Playwright Madeline Diehl's lovely script is based on the book of the same title by prolific children's author Gerald McDermott. Action is underscored and forwarded by haunting live music composed by Andrea Reinkemeyer and played by an orchestra of students enrolled in the Ann Arbor School of Performing Arts."
